PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Ruru are a small, dark brown native owl of NZ with a beige and brown mottled front and typically large owl eyes. They are nocturnal, eating a variety of insects and small animals such as rats, mice and smaller birds. Ruru are mainly found in forest areas, anywhere from sea level to high country. Ruru have a variety of calls, but they derive their common name from their iconic call that sounds like "more-pork". They are hard to spot by being nocturnal, but they also have and eerily silent flight.
